Online Counselling
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a catalyst for change, particularly in accessing counselling and psychological services. Research has found online counselling, via Telehealth, to be equally as effective as face-to-face counselling. Consequently, more clients are choosing to seek counselling services online. Online services are available for adolescents, adults and couples.
For many, the stigma of seeking help for mental health issues is removed and offers a less daunting approach in seeking treatment, in comparison to face-to-face counselling. Services are accessible via phone, computer or tablet from the comfort of your home or office; Online counselling enables access to services for clients in remote or rural areas, clients with disability or clients with health concerns requiring socially distanced services. In addition, online counselling is often less confronting and assists in reducing anxiety. Finally, external stressors such as travel, traffic, parking, or the additional required social interactions are removed.
